At the occasion of the FROG VII Days, from 6 to 8 July 2026, Soleine and Abdé-Samaad have been to Nancy (France) to present their organic geochemistry results on Neolithic archaeological ceramics from Iran.

By analysing the preserved lipids in the pottery sherds, they were able to reconstruct key elements of the diet of ancient populations from the South-East of Zagrous mounts and from the Bampur Valley. Through the study of molecular biomarkers, they provided new insights into the ruminant products exploitation. These findings demonstrate that the analysis of organic residues can deepen our understanding of past societies !
Soleine RIAUSSET has presented her work on “reconstructing the paleodiet through preserved lipids in archaeologic ceramic vessels from Tall-e Mushki and Tall-e Jari B sites“.

Abdé-Samaad DJEBBOUR has shown his results to “reconstruct the dietary practices through the residual organic analysis on pottery vessels from the Bampur valley archealogical sites”.
This event also provided the opportunity for enriching exchanges with an assembly from multiple backgrounds !
