Theme 3 : Palaeoenvironmental changes

What was the environmental frame?

Objectives : Establish the environmental context corresponding to the time of occupations during the 7th-early 4th millennia BCE using new and pre-existing records and the new data generate data in the timeframe of the project. The objectives are to

(i) document the variations in vegetation through pollen records,
lipid distribution, and stable carbon isotopes of lake sediment cores, (ii) reconstruct variations in hydrology/climate through stable carbon and hydrogen isotope analyses of archaeological artefacts, (iii)
identify suitable markers to be radiocarbon dated as a compound-specific approach to precise the chronology of sediment cores in context of the dearth of archaeological materials.

  1. document the variations in vegetation through pollen records, lipid distribution, and stable carbon isotopes of lake sediment core ;
